Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils win two silver public sector awards for working together
Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have taken the silver award in the Council of the Year category of the 2018 Public Sector Transformation Awards.
Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils also took the silver award in the Working Together category at a ceremony held at Church House in Westminster, London last night.
The awards, run by iESE, celebrate the best in local public services and both council leaders paid tribute to the hard work of council staff.
The councils were one of just three finalists shortlisted for the Working Together award. The judges were so impressed with the submission that they entered Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils into the overall Council of the Year Award as well.
The Leader of Babergh District Council, Councillor John Ward said: "The competition from other councils across the country for these prestigious awards was tough and I would like to congratulate our staff for their hard work which has enabled us to gain this national recognition for our working in partnership."
The Leader of Mid Suffolk District Council Councillor Nick Gowrley said: "Working together is the way forward and we have proven that by doing so we can be more efficient and innovative in delivering excellent services for our residents. These awards are testament to the hard work of our staff and I would like to thank them all."
